If you're planning to venture off-grid like many of us do, it is essential to have either a prepackaged first-aid kit or a homemade one following our provided list. Our list serves as a basic foundation, encompassing emergency must-haves that could be carried individually. Don't forget to pack necessary prescription medicines for your crew and extra provisions suitable for your destination and the duration of your excursion.

First-Aid Basic Care

  • Antiseptic wipes (BZK-based wipes preferred; alcohol-based OK)

  • Antibacterial ointment (e.g., bacitracin)

  • Compound tincture of benzoin (bandage adhesive)

  • Assorted adhesive bandages (fabric preferred)

  • Butterfly bandages / adhesive wound-closure strips

  • Gauze pads (various sizes)

  • Nonstick sterile pads

  • Medical adhesive tape (10 yd. roll, min. 1" width)

  • Ibuprofen / other pain-relief medication

It’s taken a number of years to build up our own personal first aid pack. It wasn’t an overnight purchase and surely didn’t come together quickly. However, now that we have it we feel much more prepared for the unexpected especially with the whole family in tow!
